Lobo de Bronze

Ano O Lobo de Bronze é a única honraria concedida pelo Comitê Escoteiro Mundial e é concedida apenas em reconhecimento a serviços excepcionais prestados ao movimento escoteiro global. Como o nome sugere, é um lobo de bronze , usado em volta do pescoço com uma fita verde com bordas amarelas.

História

Nos primeiros anos do Escotismo, Robert Baden-Powell ocasionalmente presenteava um Lobo de Prata aos Chefes Escoteiros de qualquer país que tivessem feito um excelente trabalho para o desenvolvimento do movimento.

No entanto, embora prestigioso e concedido pelo Chefe Escoteiro do Mundo, o Lobo de Prata era uma condecoração do Escotismo Britânico. Consequentemente, em 1924 , o Comitê Internacional decidiu solicitar a Baden-Powell que considerasse a criação de uma honraria especial, " a ser concedida por recomendação do Comitê Internacional por serviços internacionais excepcionais ao Movimento Escoteiro ".

Somente em 1932, Baden-Powell, tradicionalmente cauteloso com a proliferação de honrarias e distintivos, concordou em reabrir a questão e, em junho de 1934, aceitou o pedido.

Em 2 de agosto de 1935 , o Comitê Internacional, reunido em Estocolmo , aprovou formalmente a criação do Lobo de Bronze. Além disso, por sugestão de um de seus membros, Walter H. Head, o Comitê Internacional concedeu por unanimidade o primeiro Lobo de Bronze ao Escoteiro Chefe do Mundo, Lord Baden-Powell de Gilwell.

Histórico das concessões

Durante os primeiros vinte anos, apenas doze Lobos de Bronze foram concedidos.

De fato, o Comitê Internacional havia estabelecido dois critérios: 1) que a honra fosse concedida apenas por " serviços internacionais excepcionais " e 2) que, como regra, não mais do que dois Lobos de Bronze fossem concedidos em cada período de dois anos.

Posteriormente, dada a expansão do Escotismo pelo mundo, tanto em termos do número de associações nacionais quanto do número de Escoteiros, o Comitê Escoteiro Mundial ampliou os critérios, redefinindo 1) como significando " serviços excepcionais de um indivíduo ao Movimento Escoteiro Mundial " e 2) como significando um Lobo de Bronze por ano para cada 2.000.000 de Escoteiros.

Dias Atuais

Hoje, o Lobo de Bronze ainda é a única honraria concedida pelo Comitê Escoteiro Mundial. Até 2025, 101 anos após sua criação, 404 Lobos de Bronze foram concedidos.

A única brasileira a receber o Lobo de Bronze foi Melissa Casagrande em 2017, pelo seu trabalho no Comitê de Constituição e Governança da WOSM.
